Millions of college students subscribe to Chegg Study for $15.95 to $19.95 per month to help with homework during the semester. However, when May arrives, many students simply close their laptops, forget about their digital subscriptions, and bleed $50+ over summer vacation.

Why Pausing is Often Better: Chegg frequently raises its subscription prices. If you fully cancel, you lose your grandfathered pricing rate. By using the Pause feature, you pay $0 during summer break, and resume at your exact same locked-in rate when Fall semester starts.

How to Access the Hidden Pause / Cancel Screen

The biggest trap of the Chegg website is that they do not offer a "Pause" button on the main dashboard. You must initiate a full cancellation to trigger the pause prompt.

1

Log In to Chegg.com

Go to Chegg.com on your computer (or use a mobile browser). Go to My Account in the top-right corner.

2

Navigate to Orders

Click on the Orders tab within your account dashboard. You will see a list of your text book rentals and active subscriptions.

3

Click "Cancel Subscription"

Find your active Chegg Study subscription and explicitly click Cancel subscription. Don't worry, it won't cancel instantly.

4

Select "Class Ended" to Unveil Options

Chegg will ask you why you are leaving. Select "Class Ended/Graduated." Then click Continue. The website will finally reveal two buttons: Pause subscription (up to 6 months) or Final Cancel. Select your preferred choice to stop the billing.

Apple App Store Subscriptions: If you purchased Chegg using the iOS App inside the App Store, you cannot pause it. Apple does not support 6-month subscription pausing. You must go to your iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions to fully cancel.

Are you graduating?

Graduating college is the easiest time to accidentally keep paying for student services you no longer need. Add Chegg, Notion, Spotify Student, and Amazon Prime Student to Trackery so you don't leak money post-grad.
