Few companies have a worse reputation for subscription traps than SiriusXM. For over a decade, the only way to cancel your satellite radio was to call an 800-number during business hours, wait on hold, and verbally fight with a retention agent trained to refuse your cancellation.

As of late 2025 and 2026, regulatory pressure has forced them to introduce an online Chat Cancellation feature. But there is a catch: The bot is explicitly programmed to offer you multiple "flash sale" discounts instead of actually cancelling your account.

How to Cancel a Direct Billed Account

If you pay SiriusXM directly using a credit card on their website, follow this exact script to bypass the bot.

Go to the Account Center

Navigate to siriusxm.com/myaccount and log in with your email and password.

Open the Subscription Manager

Under the "Subscriptions" tab, find your active plan and click Manage, then select Cancel Subscription. This will likely open the Live Chat widget in the corner of your screen.

Navigate the Retention Bot

The bot will immediately begin offering you deals (e.g., "$3 a month for 36 months!"). Do not engage with the offers. Use the following script:

SiriusXM Bot: "We'd hate to see you go! What if we offered you 80% off your current plan for an entire year?"

You Type: "No. I want to cancel my subscription immediately."

SiriusXM Bot: "Okay, just to be sure, we can also throw in streaming access for free. Is that better?"

You Type: "No. Cancel my account."

After 2 or 3 firm refusals, the bot (or the outsourced human agent who takes over the chat) will process the request. Do not close the browser window until you are provided with an official Cancellation Confirmation Number.

How to Cancel Third-Party Subscriptions

If you signed up to listen to SiriusXM via the iPhone App or Roku, SiriusXM cannot cancel your subscription. They don't have your billing info—Apple or Roku does.

  • On Apple (iPhone): Open your Settings app, tap your Name at the top, tap Subscriptions, select SiriusXM, and hit Cancel Subscription.
  • On Roku: Log into my.roku.com, go to Manage your subscriptions, find the SiriusXM app, and select Turn off auto-renew.
⚠️ Pro-Tip on Car Trade-Ins: If you trade in or sell your car, your SiriusXM subscription does not automatically cancel. You must manually contact them to sever the billing tie to that vehicle's radio ID.
